Access 2003

When you run webphlex under Access 2003 you may get the warning message "Security Warning: Unsafe expressions are not blocked. Do you want to block unsafe expressions?". In this case choose "No".

  • A second warning will be given "Security Warning: Unsafe expressions are not blocked. ... 'C:\webphlex\webphlex.mde' may not be safe to open if it contains expressions that were intended to harm your computer. Do you want to open this file?". Choose "Yes".
  • You will now get yet another warning message "Opening 'C:\webphlex\webphlex.mde'. This file may not be safe if it contains code that was intended to harm your computer. Do you want to open this file or cancel the operation?". Choose "Open".
Don't worry, webphlex does not contain any code capable of harming your computer! For more information, see http://www.ucs.ed.ac.uk/tsd/infotools/access2003/.

Note that the error warnings related to this problem may imply that 'Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8' needs to be installed, whereas it is quite possibly already in place. You can verify this by using Windows Explorer to check the version number of the file MSJET40.DLL on your hard disk (normally situated in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32). Navigate to this file, right-click on it and check the version number; if you have a version of the form '4.0.8xxx.0' (where 'xxx' are arbitrary digits), then Service Pack 8 is installed.
