what is webphlex?

webphlex is a powerful and flexible system for creating and maintaining large, complex and multilingual web sites.

Working on the basis of templates and text replacement, it can produce any form of text-based file: HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, or anything else used today or yet to be invented. If it can (theoretically) be created with a text editor, it can also be generated by webphlex.

While most content management systems attempt to separate the form and content of a web site for efficient maintenance, webphlex also facilitates a disciplined management of the content in different languages.

who is webphlex meant for?

webphlex is meant for anyone who wishes to substantially automate web site production without sacrificing anything in the way of flexibility or control over the final result. Generally speaking, the user should be at least reasonably familiar with the principles of the system for which files are being produced, e.g. someone using the system to produce HTML files ought to have a good idea of how HTML works.

It is quite possible to copy one of the example page groups, use the tools provided to generate new elements and produce an excellent result without knowing a word of HTML, but we wouldn't really recommend it.

In other words, it's for people who know what they're doing and want to do it better, rather than those who want to throw a web site together in five minutes.
