Brian Burns was born in Dublin and is an Irish citizen, but emigrated to London at an early age. As a child he spent most of his Summer holidays in Dublin, and many years later began revisiting the city as an adult. In this way he got to know the city over a long period, with the detachment of an outsider but also with a feel for local atmosphere resulting from his Irish background.

These pictures, taken between April 1990 and October 1992, all express something typical of Dublin in this period.
